Young yellowtails are called as "Inada" and come to the shore of Niigata every autumn. We have enjoyed yellowtail fishing at the west breakwater of Niigata West Port.

(There are some pictures in which many fishes are laid. We Japanese are fish-eater people and we never release such common fishes like yellowtails. yellowtails are not native trouts.)
The west breakwater is so long and you had better go by bike. If you do not have, you can borrow a bike from Tanemura fishing tackle shop free. It is near the breakwater.
See the map bellow. The good spots are from the high place(Takadai) to the big curve(Omagari), and also the tip portion(Sentan). When you go, you remember these Japanese names. Then you ask easily where the spots are, as almost Japansese can not understand English.

The right picture I took in June shows the spot. There are many blocks and danderous. You had better pay attention not to slip down.

It was rainy and windy day. I finished my job quickly and went to the west breakwater in the afternoon. I found only one angler, as the weather was so bad. But in such days yellowtails always come close to the breakwater.
The right picture shows that many sea gulls are flying. It means there are many fishes under the sea.

I got up at five thirty in that morning. It was also rainy. Rain loves me, maybe. Then I caught a lot of yellowtails and a bontio. (Click the right picure.) As all of my family like fish dishes, we ate those in a few days. Fish dishes are healthy. You also had better eat fishes more.

It was also rainy and stormy. I went to the west breakwater in the morning. A lot of yellowtails were already boiling here and there. Those were eating very small fishes, the length of those were just one inch. I fished many yellowtails only in one hour. It was too much and I finished fishing early. Do not misunderstand. A lot of yellowtails do not always come. I was just lucky in this year.

It was a fine day. I went to the breakwater early in the morning. I think bontios come close to the breakwater like such fine days. Then I got not only many yellowtails but also a lot of bontios.

It was also rainy day. Yellowtails were exciting and were come close to me. Those were boiling below my foot. I fished some fishes and finished.
Maybe you think I have a lot of holiday, as I went fishing so often. But it is not right. I go fishing on holiday and also business day,too. Because it does not take much time to enjoy yellowtail fishing. It takes only one hour. And winter will come soon. Our fishing season in Niigata will be closed soon. Every angler in Niigata goes fishing so often.
